Upcoming Sustainable Energy Events To Support Residents and Communities
Clare County Council’s Climate Action Team has partnered with EirGrid, ESB Networks, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and Tipperary Energy Agency (TEA) to deliver a series of upcoming in-person and online events that will cover home energy consumption, renewable energy and grants and incentives available.
The Energy Citizens Roadshow will take place in the West County Hotel on Wednesday, 21st February, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. This free event, with MC Ciarán Mullooly, includes exhibitors such as energy consultants and solar panel experts who will be on hand to discuss grants and incentives available to homeowners and businesses.
Climate Action Coordinator Morgan Lahiffe will join a panel of speakers from EirGrid, the operator and developer of Ireland’s electricity grid, the SEAI and ESB Networks to provide attendees with information about their home energy consumption and to learn more about renewable energy.
Sinead Dooley, Head of Public Engagement with Eirgrid, said, “The EirGrid team is looking forward to providing a space for the public to ask questions and to hear their views about harnessing of renewable energy, grid development and community microgeneration opportunities.”
The event will also provide an opportunity to discuss Clare’s recently adopted Climate Action Plan. Morgan Lahiffe, Climate Action Coordinator with Clare County Council, said, “The Climate Action Plan is a pivotal roadmap for Clare County Council’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. We aim to provide leadership in this space as we move towards our 2030 targets and a net zero future.”
Additionally, Clare County Council in collaboration with Tipperary Energy Agency will be delivering a two-part series of accessible and informative energy webinars. By attending these free webinars, participants will gain valuable insights that can be translated into actionable steps, leading to financial savings, reduced carbon footprints, and stronger, more resilient communities.
The first, taking place on Thursday, 22nd February, from 7.00pm to 7.45pm, provides an introductory level overview of solar energy for residential, business and community applications and information on the grants and incentives available. The second, taking place on Wednesday, 28th February, from 7.00pm to 7.45pm, provides an introduction to anaerobic digestion and will provide information on its applications and opportunities.
